Ben has been working alongside the Deafblind community since 2010. Beginning as a volunteer during his Auslan studies, Ben has gone on to work as a freelance interpreter, in-house interpreter, Deafblind technology support worker, workshop facilitator advocate and advisor. He has presented workshops and papers around Australia with a particular focus on Deafblind interpreting and interpreter education. In 2021-22 Ben supported many Deafblind people from around the country to contribute to the Disability Royal Commission and appeared to give evidence as part of their public hearings. Ben holds a Diploma of Auslan from Kangan Institute and a Diploma of Interpreting (Auslan/English) from RMIT alongside a Bachelor of Music from the University of New South Wales.
